Tomato Onion Chutney

Ingredients:
  • Oil
  • Urad Dhal - 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli - 1
  • Onion - 1/2 of large
  • Tomato - 2 medium
  • Garlic pod - 1 (opt)
  • Peanuts - 5
  • Kasthuri Methi - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • Parsley leaves - few
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves (opt)

Preparation:

In a pan, heat oil. To the heated oil add, urad dhal, 5 peanuts, red chilli, onion. Saute till the onion becomes translucent, then add tomato. You can also add a garlic pod if you want to. To this add lil kasthuri methi,salt...i always feel that it does reflect a lil of change in ur dish...nways, the choice of adding it is urs :) Also since I did not want to use corriander and tamarind in this chutney, I traded it off with few parsley leaves. This in nature has some tangy taste and I liked it in my chutney. Then switch off the flame and cool it off for 5 minutes.

Once cooled, grind it to a paste and then for seasoning use oil, curry leaves and mustard seeds...You can also add some urad dhal at this point if you are really crazy abt adding some kind of dhal (like hubby dear) when seasoning :) He always likes a lil it of crunchiness cos of the dhal in the seasoning...n also is very particular abt the quantity...God knws, how much effort I have to put juz for seasoning a dish itself ;) well, since tatz the least I could do for all the love he showers on me, I do it with no complaints :) hahaha, eppadiyoo samalichutaen ;D
